We were proud to be listed with The Australian Museum, the NSW Art Gallery and Sydney Tower.

Our innovative school holiday art programs are written by our experienced teachers who are specialists in art education for children.

NSW Autumn School Holidays Art Classes Program

We are running Full day, 3 hour, 4 hour and short 1½ hour ART workshops to keep your children busy in the holidays

Full Day – 9.30am-3pm   Bring morning tea, lunch and a drink.

4 hours – 10am-2pm Bring lunch and a drink.

3 hours  9.30am-12.30pm or 1.30pm-4.30pm Bring a snack and a drink.
90 mins –  10.30-12 noon

Children can attend 2 workshops on a day, they just need to bring lunch and morning tea to stay all day.

Payment

All art workshops MUST be prepaid by EFT, Paypal, cheque or cash to reserve your child’s place. We accept the creative kids voucher for 2 or more workshop bookings,with a total of 6 hours or more. Email the voucher number when booking, with your child’s name and birthdate. Then select bank transfer as payment.

PLEASE NOTE that if a workshop is full, our website will not let you progress to payment.

Mythological creatures: drawing and painting

Ages 7-14 – Tuesday 14th April – 9.30-3pm 

This will be a fun filled day spent exploring the world of dragons, dungeons and castles as well as exotic mermaids and other mythical creatures. A beautiful canvas will be created as well as other individual drawn pieces of art using a range of mixed media.

Manga and Anime: drawing

Ages 7-14 – Wednesday 15th April– 9.30am-12.30pm – Bring morning tea a drink

This day introduces the young artists to the fun-packed world of Manga! They will learn the entertaining art of drawing in the unique Manga style – the actions, the eyes and of course amazing hair and outfits! They will start with the basic principles of drawing Manga eyes, hair and bodies, and will then progress through to creating a scene if time permits. The drawings will be rendered in ink and colour.

Cartooning: drawing

Ages 7-14 – Wednesday 15th  April– 1.30am-4.30pm – Bring afternoon tea and a drink 

Guided by book illustrator, Karen Carter, the young artists will learn how to draw caricatures and cartoons of faces. They will focus on individual characteristics and develop personalities in their drawings. The students will learn and practice some basic principles of cartooning, including facial expressions and body language, before developing a character of their own. They will create a simple cartoon story rendered in a frame by frame format. The outlines for their cartoons will be done with ink felt tip pens and colour will be added with pencils.

Autumn Trees painting 

Ages 5-14 years – Wednesday 15th April – 10.30pm-12pm 

In this workshop the young artists will enjoy painting a beautiful contemporary Autumn tree picture on a 30 x 40cm canvas using acrylics. Painting techniques like dabbing and dotting will be explored in this workshop. The young artists will also learn about warm and cool colours. They can choose to add a sprinkle of glitter to finish it off.

Sea Biscuits and Sea Urchins or (sand dollars) : CLAY

Ages 8-14 -Wednesday 15th April – 10am-2pm – Bring lunch, snack and drink

The young artists will hand build a pot using air dry clay. It will be decorated using inspiration from the ocean. If time permits they will paint their pots using acrylics. They will need to bring a small shoe box or plastic container to take their clay pot home.

Jim Dine inspired Heart mixed media painting

Ages 5-13– Thursday 16th April – 10.30am-12pm 

The young artists will observe and briefly discuss the unique Heart paintings by American Pop artist Jim Dine. Then they will create their own heart painting using warm and cool acrylic colours on a 30 x 40cm canvas. Pastel details and gold paint will be added to complete their multi layered work.

Summer Sunflowers painting

Ages 7-14 – Thursday 16th April – 10am-2pm – Bring lunch and a drink

The young artists will enjoy looking at sunflowers in bright fields and
exploring the work of Dutch artist Van Gogh as well as Australian colourist Olga Kolesnik to create their own Sunflower painting.

Mindful Mandalas : drawing

Ages 8-14 – Friday 17th April – 10am-2pm Bring Lunch and a drink

A Mandala is a sacred space which reveals inner truth about you and the world around you. At the most basic level, mandalas represent wholeness, unity and harmony. The literal meaning of the word Mandala means circle. The young artists will enjoy drawing patterns of Mandala on coloured board.

 

Autumn trees and leaves : mixed media and painting

Ages 7-13 – Friday 17th April– 10am-2pm Bring lunch and a drink

The young artists will learn about colour schemes that represent nature in autumn. They will learn to draw trees and leaves on a canvas and use acrylic paints in an autumnal colour scheme.
The second artwork will teach the students about shapes of leaves and textures to create a mixed media artwork on paper utilising collage, drawing materials and washes of paint.

Anime, cartoon, comic stylised portraits : Digital Art

Ages 10 +  Friday 17th April– 9.30am-12.30pm – Bring a snack and a drink

Ages 10 + An open level workshop where students will complete a digital portrait in their preferred style, whether it be comics, cartoons or anime.

Students need to bring their own tablet and stylus with the Autodesk Sketchbook app downloaded. https://sketchbook.com/

Tropical Paradise: drawing and painting

Ages 7-13 – Monday 20th April– 9.30am-3pm – Bring lunch, a snack and a drink

In this full day fun workshop the young artists will be exploring a tropical flower filled paradise full of exotic lilies, beautiful frangipanis as well as tropical sunsets. They will create a tropical paradise themed canvas along with a variety of other drawn mixed media artworks.

Bold Banksias:  painting

Ages 7-13 – Monday 20th April– 10am-2pm Bring morning tea, lunch and a drink

Inspired by Australian artist Margaret Preston the young artists will create a bright canvas painting exploring the Australian natives in art.

Unicorn illustration: Digital Art

Ages 7-13 – Monday 20th April– 9.30am-12.30pm

An open level workshop where students will complete a digital illustration of a horse from mythology (e.g. Pegasus, unicorns, hippocampi). Students will learn how to apply drawing techniques digitally.

Students need to bring their own tablet and stylus with the Autodesk Sketchbook app downloaded. https://sketchbook.com

Rumble in the Jungle: drawing and painting

Ages 7-13 – Tuesday 21st April – 9.30-3pm Bring morning tea, lunch and a drink

Take a journey through the Congo meeting our animal friends as well as exotic flowers and waterfalls. On this fun filled day the young artists will be creating a colourful and dramatic canvas as well as a number of other mixed media artworks !

Children who love to paint or draw and have already been to these workshops previously are welcome to attend again.  A different program of activities guided by our teachers will be given to these children on the workshop day.
