Our school holidays art workshops were listed in The Daily Telegraph as being one of the 10 best activities for children to participate in during the holidays!
We were proud to be listed with The Australian Museum, the NSW Art Gallery and Sydney Tower.

Our innovative school holiday art programs are written by our experienced teachers who are specialists in art education for children.

NSW Summer School Holidays Art Classes Program

We are running FULL day, 3 hour, 4 hour and short 1½ hour ART workshops to keep your children busy in the holidays

Full Day – 9.30am-3pm   Bring morning tea, lunch and a drink.
3 hours  9.30am-12.30pm, 1-4pm or 1.30-4.30pm   Bring a snack and a drink.
90 mins – Two sessions daily 10.30-12 noon or 1-2.30pm

4 hours – 10am-2pm Bring a snack, lunch and a drink

Children can attend 2 workshops on a day they just need to bring lunch and morning tea to stay all day.

Payment

All art workshops MUST be prepaid by EFT, Paypal, cheque or cash to reserve your child’s place.

Details for Summer School Holidays Art Workshops:

Klimt Christmas Tree Painting

Ages 7-14 – Monday 17th December – 9.30-12.30pm – Bring morning tea and a drink

Inspired by 19th century Austrian artist Gustav Klimts “Tree of Life” the young artists will paint their own winter Christmas tree design on a canvas. The gold patterned branches will twist, twirl, turn and spiral. They can add a touch of glitter to finish it off.

   

Christmas Craft

Ages 6-13 – Monday 17th  December – 9.30am-12.30pm 

This 3 hour workshop will have the young artists creating festive craft to celebrate all things Christmassy to decorate their home.

 

Christmas Art

Ages 7-13 – Tuesday 18th December – 9.30am-3pm – Bring morning tea, lunch and a drink

Your young artists will have a busy and enjoyable day at this Christmas workshop! They will paint a Christmas themed glitter canvas and a decorative jewellery tree (a Christmas gift for someone). Then they will construct an art Christmas card and paint as well as embellish an mdf Christmas tree decoration. Finally they will decorate a paper gift bag to take all their wonderful creations home.

 

Cartoon Christmas Card drawing

Ages 7-14– Tuesday 18th December – 9.30am-12.30pm – Bring a snack and a drink

The young artists will design and draw a Christmas card in cartoon style. Inking and water colour will be included in this fun workshop.

A Bush Christmas drawing and painting

Ages 7-13 – Wednesday 19th December – 9.30am-12.30am – Bring a snack and drink

In this 3 hour workshop the young artists will paint a colourful, festive canvas of Santa and all his animal helpers enjoying a bush Christmas.

Glitter Christmas painting

Ages 5-13 – Wednesday 19th December or Friday 21st December– 10.30am-12pm 

The young artists will enjoy painting Christmas characters like Santa, Rudolph, elves, snowmen or paint a meaningful Christmas story scene on a 30 x 40cm canvas. Decorate with a sprinkle of glitter to finish it off.

 

Santa and Rudolph come to Sydney Harbour

Ages 7-14 – Thursday 20th December– 10am-2pm – Bring a snack, lunch and a drink

This 4-hour holiday workshop introduces young artists to Australian artists Ken Done’s Sydney Harbour Turquoise Sea, Black Liner, 2006 and Brett Whitley’s Balcony 2, 1975 – artworks that depict Sydney Harbour. They study the two very different viewpoints represented by the two artists and how symbols of Sydney harbour have been used in these artworks. They will base their artwork on one of these artists. Using the selected artwork as inspiration the young artists will create a canvas painting of their own impression of Sydney Harbour. They will introduce the season’s spirit into this scene by inserting Santa Clause and Rudolph in the foreground. This will enable students to learn to draw Santa and Rudolph and understand the difference between the foreground and the background when composing an artwork. They will learn how to overlay drawings of Santa and Rudolph over their own version of the Sydney harbour. The young artists will learn how to use the space within the canvas effectively when composing an artwork and explore painting techniques to produce this artwork.

 

A Beach Christmas: drawing and painting

Ages 6-13 – Friday 21st December – 9.30am-12.30pm – Bring morning tea and a drink

At this 3 hour workshop the young artists will create a canvas painting of Santa and his many animal friends enjoying a day at the beach, surfing the waves and playing on the beach.

Sweet Treats painting

Ages 5-13 – Monday 7th January – 10.30am- 12pm 

In this fun and creative workshop the young artists will be completing a canvas painting of their favourite sweet things like cupcakes, ice-cream sundaes or lollies. The students will learn how to outline, add high lights and choose colours that work well together in painting.

 

Welcome to the Circus: drawing and painting

Ages 7-13 – Monday 7th January– 9.30am-3pm – Bring morning tea, lunch and a drink

We welcome all ringmasters to this workshop where you will capture the dynamic environment of the circus through your artworks. Such scenes involve a clown balancing on a tightrope, pulling a rabbit out of a magician’s hat, completing a canvas painting of an amusement park and much more. You will be able to experiment with different art mediums and materials to complete your artworks. Let the show begin!

Under the Sea painting

Ages 5-13 – Tuesday 8th January– 10.30am-12pm 

Dolphins, sharks, seahorses, whales, tropical fish, crabs and much more! The young artists will choose a favourite sea creature to paint in an underwater scene on a 30 x 40 cm canvas. They will learn some basic art painting techniques like sponging and dabbing, along the way.

Garden Discovery: drawing and painting

Ages 6-14 – Tuesday 8th January – 9.30pm-3pm- Bring a snack , lunch and a drink

In this full day workshop the young artists will discover what really happens in the wonderful wonderland of their garden! They will enter the world of creepy crawlies, beautiful flowers, fluttering butterflies, flittering birds and the ever present curious kitty and sleepy lizards. A painting on canvas and other mixed media works will be completed on this day.

Rainbow Flowers painting

Ages 6-14 – Wednesday 9th January – 10.30am-12pm

In this workshop the young artists will enjoy painting a beautiful contemporary flower picture on a 30 x 40cm canvas using rainbow coloured acrylics. Painting techniques like blending, dabbing, dotting and sponging will be explored in this workshop. They can choose to add a sprinkle of glitter for a bit of sparkle!

 

Sun, sand and surfing safari: drawing and painting

Ages 6-13 – Wednesday 9th January – 9.30am-3pm – Bring morning tea, lunch and a drink

The young artists will spend the day creating a beach inspired canvas featuring big wave surfers,  tropical beaches, fun on the beach and the Aussie iconic combi van! A  variety of other mixed media artworks will be completed on this day.

Manga and Anime drawing

Ages 7-13 – Thursday 10th January – 9.30am-12.30pm – Bring morning tea and a drink

This 3 hour workshop introduces the young artists to the fun packed world of Manga and Anime! They will learn the entertaining art of drawing in the unique Manga style – the actions, the eyes and of course the amazing hair and outfits. They will start with the basic principles of drawing Manga eyes, hair and bodies, and will then progress through to creating a scene if time permits. The drawings will be rendered in ink and colour.

Rumble in the Jungle: drawing and painting

Ages 7-13 – Thursday 10th January – 9.30am-3pm – Bring morning tea, lunch and a drink

Take a journey through the Congo meeting our animal friends as well as exotic flowers and waterfalls. On this fun filled day the young artists will be creating a colourful and dramatic canvas as well as a number of other mixed media artworks !

Tree Silhouettes: Mixed media

Ages 7-13 – Friday 11th January – 10am-2pm – Bring a snack, lunch and a drink

This workshop is for the young artist who would enjoy exploring a variety of techniques. The young artists will produce a canvas painting during this 4-hour holiday workshop. Students are shown how to draw a silhouette of a tree. They learn how to create movement when drawing the tree. They will also learn about colour schemes and how to mix colours to create an expressive background in paint. There is an opportunity for the young artist to attempt a second artwork on paper using collage techniques and mixed media drawing and painting. They will learn art concepts such as layering, overlapping, painting using washes and other mixed media techniques.

  

Jurassic Adventure: drawing, painting, mixed media

Ages 7-13 – Friday 11th January – 9.30am-3pm – Bring a snack, lunch and a drink

Let’s journey into the Jurassic era for a full day creative workshop producing an amazing canvas featuring huge Tyrannosaurus Rex, browsing Brontosaurus munching on leaves, sneaky, speedy Velaptor Raptors and many more!
The young artists will be creating a painting on canvas as well as a variety of other mixed media artworks in this full day workshop.

Cartoon Animals drawing

Ages 7-13 – Monday 14th January – 9.30am-12.30pm – Bring a snack and a drink

The young artists will learn how to draw animals in a cartoon style similar to the style of
Disney. They will focus on how to draw the bodies and the facial expressions of these animals.
The workshop will include inking and colouring.

Mythology- All things Mystical : drawing and painting

Ages 7-13 – Monday 14th January – 9.30am-3pm – Bring a snack, lunch and a drink

Let’s venture into the mystical world of medieval castles, fire breathing dragons, serpents and other mythological creatures including mysterious mermaids and majestic unicorns!
The young artists will create a canvas painting among other mixed media artworks on paper utilizing a range of art materials.

Food Monsters painting

Ages 5-13 – Tues 15th January – 10.30am-12pm 

Get berry eggcited and lettuce help your imagination and creativity run wild in this workshop! Transform your favourite food into cute, magical or scary creatures inspired by the characters of Monsters Inc, Disney and Where the Wild Things Are!
From buttered-toast butterflies to unicorns with corn horns to hotdog dachshunds to spaghetti aliens, the list (and puns) are endless!

Beauty and the Beast: Still-life drawing

Ages 7-13 – Tues 15th January – 1pm-4pm – Bring a snack and a drink

Be our guest! Be our guest! Put your art skills to the test!
This workshop puts a twist to traditional still-life drawing, allowing students to develop their understanding of shading, tonal work and perspective in a fun way. Students will learn how to draw their favourite characters from ‘Beauty and the Beast’ such as Cogsworth, Lumiere and Ms Potts and arrange them to form an imaginative still-life artwork.

Peacock painting

Ages 7-13 – Wed 16th January – 9.30m-12.30pm – Bring a snack and a drink

It’s such a rare sight to see a peacock gracefully fluttering its wings, let alone have the time to record the moment on camera! In this workshop, you’ll be able to capture this spectacle through your acrylic painting on canvas while learning about tonal variations, composition, painting techniques and the Zentangle technique!

Cats, dogs and other cuddly animals drawing and painting

Ages 7-13 – Wed 16th January – 9.30m-3pm – Bring a snack, lunch and drink

This will be a day full of fun for the young artists creating a wonderful canvas painting of our favourite feline or playful pooch as well as other cute and cuddly animals including ducklings, piglets and ponies!
A variety of other mixed media artworks will be made in this full day workshop too.

Super heroes drawing

Ages 7-13 – Thurs 17th January – 9.30m-12.30pm – Bring a snack and a drink

This is a 3 hour workshop where the young artists will learn how to draw their favourite comic superheroes and create their own comic book cover.
Inking and colouring will be included.

Animal fun in the sun: drawing and painting

Ages 7-13 – Thurs 17th January – 9.30m-3pm – Bring a snack, lunch and a drink

This will be a full day workshop featuring lambs, piglets, ducklings and other cute animals. The Young Artists will be creating a canvas as well as other mixed media artworks featuring their favourite animals.

A day at the zoo painting

Ages 5-13 – Friday 18th January – 10.30m-12pm 

Imagine the zoo is coming to us at Castle Hill Young Artists! The students will have fun on this adventure creating a canvas painting of cheeky monkeys, roaring tigers, slithering snakes or another fabulous zoo animal of their choice!

Tropical Paradise: drawing and painting

Ages 6-13 – Friday 18th January – 1pm-4pm 

The young artists will spend 3 hours creating their own beautiful tropical paradise! They will draw
and paint exotic flowers, tropical sunsets and a hidden paradise.

Children who love to paint or draw and have already been to these workshops previously are welcome to attend again.  A different program of activities guided by our teachers will be given to these children on the workshop day.
